Billie Joe Armstrong is lead singer and plays guitar for Green Day. Bille Joe was born on February 17, 1972. He was the youngest of six children. Billie's dad happened to be a Jazz drummer and truck driver who died of cancer when Billie was only 10 years old. The last gift his father had given him was an electric guitar. Billie never recieved any real guitar training, because his teachers never saw any talent in him. Billies mother was a waitress at Rod's Hickory Pit. Billie started singing at a young age. He sang 'Looking for Love' when he was just 5 years old. The first song he ever wrote was 'Why Do You Want Him?' at the age of 12. Billie and two of his brothers, Eric and Matt would visit their father down the street. "They would bring all these new tapes with them, I remember listeing to 'Too Fast for Love' by Motley Crue when I was 11 or 12. Then they started getting into Punk Rock. They brought out DOA records, and TSOL and the Dead Kennedy's and stuff like that. Then they started riding Skateboards, and I was like 'Wow, these guy's are cool" says Billie. When he was ten he met Mike Dirnt in the cafeteria one day in 1982. They started talking about heavy metal and have been best friends since that day. Billie and Mike formed a band named Sweet Children when they were in High School and played wherever they could. The band soon lost its drummer, and changed its name to Green Day. They replaced John Kiffmeyer with Tre' Cool. Billie met his soon to be wife in Minneapolis in 1990 at a gig. In 1994, he married his girlfriend Adrienne Nesser. The ceremony lasted only 5 minutes. The day after the wedding they found out Adrienne was pregnant. In March of 1995, Billie's son Joseph Marcicano Armstrong was born. On September, 12, 1998 they added another addition to the family with their second child Jacob Danger Armstrong. In 1999, Billie Joe became co-owner of a new record label called Adeline Records. His side band, Pinhead Gunpowder, released an EP on that label titled, Shoot The Moon. A few other bands on the label are..One Man Army, AFI, and The Criminals.
